A York University Initiative

Rebecca Deutsch is a PhD student in Gender, Feminist, and Women’s Studies at York University. Her research takes up questions about affect, madness, and medical interactions. Additionally, she is interested in grief, dying, and necro-politics. Currently, the questions she is asking lie at the intersection of all of these interests and try to confront how hopelessness can be a by-product medical diagnosis when labels become totalizing and disconnected. Rebecca has a chapter published in The Routledge Companion to Animals and Gender and another chapter forthcoming in Til Death Do Us Part: Essays On Death and Dying. She has contributed to several co-authored articles and worked on a variety of different projects.
